The focus for International Women’s Day this year is choose to challenge.
The theme #ChooseToChallenge is rooted in the push for change because “a challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change.”
Across the business globally, we asked our women, “What is one thing you wish more people knew about women in the workplace?”.
Here are some of the responses from our incredible community of women:
“I wish more people knew about the resilience we are ingrained with and always need to carry with us because of certain standards, expectations and behaviors in the workplace.”
“I would like people to know that we are extremely capable and that we can be amazing professionals in any kind of role.”
“It’s true they share a major chunk of the parenting and caregiving responsibility. But at times this becomes the stereotypical perception of a woman.”
“It would be great if everyone would understand that when we are being opinionated and passionate about subjects, we are not angry or emotional.”
“I would like more people to know how challenging it is for women who have children to balance work and care for children, especially mothers who breastfeed and have small babies.”
“I hope there will be equality in the workplace where people would appreciate how much we can contribute and how powerful we are.”
“Women work ceaselessly to earn an equal standing in the workplace, and we continue to battle underrepresentation, discrimination and prejudice with diligence and perseverance.”
“I wish that more people knew that being a woman or a man in the workplace shouldn’t really make any difference. We are all dedicated to our job, to our families, to our friends, hobbies and passions. We should all be as professional as possible, as friendly as possible and aim to give our best at work.”
“In my opinion women bring a different type of passion to the work environment, and most important their intuition. Women are generally more emotionally intelligent, they are better at reading people’s moods, they rely on that other dimension of feelings and intuition in addition to logical thinking. Managers should know about these important features and learn how to use them.”
PokerStars and Flutter are proud to celebrate the amazing, brilliant, and strong women across our global community this International Women’s Day.
Pause and Reflect:
“Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change – so let us together, choose to challenge.”
Happy International Women’s Day!
