The role of Chief Digital Technology Architect is to establish and maintain an active architecture and engineering community within Flutter International in order to shape the forward view of Digital Technology (Web, Mobile, MarTech, Customer Ops) across the enterprise and ensure investment is linked to long-term business strategy. 

The primary responsibility of this role is to architect, design and prototype platform concepts and technologies. Working in tandem with solutions architects and development leads looking for cross product and cross tribe alignment in terms of technology use and reuse. The role is also to evangelise platform centric development to product business representatives to gain synergies across development cells and work towards process improvements to reduce any cross dependencies.    

This role will provide extensive technical, strategic advice and guidance of the highest level to senior managers and technical resources in the creation and implementation of new digital technology platforms.

Although very much a technology role, the Chief Digital Technology Architect retains a very strong business steer achieved through regular contact with tribe leads and business/product owners.

This is a vital role in maintaining the integrity of systems, the consistency of applied architectures and providing strategic direction.

Reporting directly to the Director of Technology Strategy, Chief Digital Technology Architect will:

  • Oversee all divisional-wide Digital Technology architecture to ensure alignment with our technology vision
  • Digital Technology community of practice lead – define and maintain architecture standards across the division, foster a culture of creativity and innovation with the community
  • Establish architectural principles for Core Technology and contribute to the architectural repository to document, catalogue, and manage architecture artefacts.  Ensure they are communicated, socialise and updated across all divisions.
  • Support the Chief Enterprise Architecture to establish and develop architecture and design governance processes to ensure business outcome alignment and improve quality of deliverables. Ensure fully aligned to the Transformation initiative. 
  • Work with the key business personnel to identify solutions that will provide the best return possible for Flutter International.
  • Look at the six month to three years business roadmaps and establish a suitable strategy for embedding the required capabilities in the business.
  • Help and advice senior executives set technology strategy then work with technology teams to turn vision into reality.
  • Provide oversight for budgets and project plans and help manage technology risks and issues.
  • Work with the Director of Technology Strategy, CTO and other architects across the organisation to ensure consistency and alignment of the technology roadmaps across the whole organisation.
  • Work with the Director of Technology Strategy to establish architectural governance and oversight of IT delivery and services to ensure a balance of near-term pragmatism with long-term direction.
  • Participate in product evaluations, RFP’s, POC’s and business decisions to ensure fit and scale into the platform and the organization.​
  • Work in conjunction with other groups (i.e., Development, Analysis, Solutions Architecture, Infrastructure and operations) with architectural related matters.
  • Ensure that the application/systems, data and technology aspects of the enterprise architecture are driven by the business imperatives of the organization and that the requirements driving the overall architecture are managed consistently and effectively.
  • Assess the requirements and presenting architectural recommendations that are in line with the strategic vision for the enterprise and wider best practice.
  • Provide leadership to the wider architecture and technical community and maintain constructive relationships with suppliers to allow effective and productive evaluation of vendor offerings against business requirements, constraints and priorities.
  • Ensure that the various views comprising an enterprise architecture are consistent and coherent, at an appropriate level of detail and that changes are controlled to maintain consistency. 
  • Advise on and participate in the governance arrangements set up to ensure that the enterprise architecture delivers the desired benefits to an organization.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for architectural frameworks, methods and tools.
  • Act as coach to advise and assist analysts, developers, technical specialists and architects in any architecture disciplines

As the ideal candidate, you will have

Essential:

  • Significant experience of building mobile and web applications e.g. Web technologies (ReactJS, Angular) and Mobile (iOS/Swift/ObjectiveC, Android)
  • Experience with Marketing Technology in an ecommerce environment, specifically the Adobe Marketing Cloud, but also SEO, SEM, Social Media Platforms, Content Management, Analytics, Testing and optimisation, Media Buying, marketing automation, CRM, Omni-channel Delivery, CDN, etc, ideally Internet based businesses from Betting and Gaming, Retail, Banking and/or IT Consultancy, ideally within a highly regulated industry.
  • Full life cycle experience, responsible for the development of a complete set of architectural views for an enterprise in accordance with one of the more common architecture frameworks.
  • Strong business analysis skills and experience, including development of business vision and strategies, functional decomposition, requirements capture, process modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development.
  • Awareness of systems management and operational support tools
  • Ability to keep a strategic focus whilst dealing tactically with day-to-day issues.
  • Experience of operating at director level and able to present at Board level, translating technology into terms relating to business drivers and financial performance.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, from user up to C-level executives.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Proven track record and ability in leading technical staff, using wide-ranging skills (including planning, organising and interpersonal skills);
  • Familiarity with and buy-in on agile/lean development methodologies, continuous delivery principles.
  • Willingness to learn new things, take ownership and solve complex issues. 

Desirable:

  • Security and Infrastructure experience is strongly desirable.
