The role: Department Head of Marketing Tooling – Betfair International

We are looking for a Department Head of Marketing Tooling to join our growing Betfair International team in Dublin.

Reporting into the International Digital Director, The Department Head of Marketing Tooling is responsible for leading on automation and scaling of operations within the INTL marketing department. This role involves working closely with technology and product teams.

Why we need you:

The Department Head of Marketing Tooling will lead by example. Managing resources and working side-by-side with the team as an active participant: defining processes, developing new solutions, and resolving process and technology conflicts. You will be responsible for implementing marketing tech strategies and governance across various teams. You will work with a diverse set of resources consisting of a mix of internal and external developers, project managers, and business stakeholders to implement scalable solutions. Your goal is to iteratively improve our existing marketing tooling and launch new marketing products and marketing technologies.

You will be responsible for staying up to date with the current industry perspective on technology trends/opportunities, awareness of alternative solution provider and their advancement in comparison to our chosen tech partners. You will also look for opportunities where automation and innovation will give the customer the best experience and value from the brand. Finally, you will define and implement technology initiatives and functionality that will enable the INTL division to achieve business goals, while crafting the vision of the future state from an enabling capability perspective.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Help design and executive our automation agenda.
  • Lead on the capture and utilisation of data within marketing.
  • Implement new and improved technology capabilities across marketing (Brand, Digital and CRM), detailing business benefits and value, while improving marketing and CRM performance.
  • Direction and evolving the integration to facilitate paid search, paid social & bid optimisation.
  • Coach business stakeholders and proactively suggest new ways to leverage MarTech technologies linked to Customer and Business value.
  • Direct on the ad server, tracking & tag management.
  • Lead on Risk Management and Audit process management within the marketing department.
  • Demonstrate technology thought leadership, foster productive business relationships and build strong sponsorship of our technology architecture and product roadmap.
  • Devise strategies to increase online traffic to the company website, tracking conversion rates and advising updates and improvements to the website as needed along the way.
  • Enable the organisation to use data and testing plans to continually optimise and improve revenue.
  • Work with external partners such as ad server account managers and technology vendors to overcome roadblocks, identify / act on new opportunities and more efficiently deploy/leverage technology.

Who we are looking for:

The Department Head of Marketing Tooling will be required to have hands on experience in MarTech technologies and provide support for integrations between platforms or application solutions. You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to quickly build rapport.

We are looking for a creative thinker, backed by strong analytical and problem-solving skills in the MarTech domain. You are customer centric, commercially savvy and can influence without authority, with excellent stakeholder management. You have excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritise. You enjoy building relationships as you have excellent communication and presentation skills.

As the ideal candidate, you will have: 

  • Data industry understanding and interest with exposure to data solutions.
  • Able to proactively uncover and communicate problems and opportunities, prioritise findings based on recommendations believed to deliver the best return, steadfastly chase solutions, and share results.
  • Experience in matrix leading teams in systems/technical analysis and data capabilities.
  • Worked alongside product organisations delivering great customer experiences.
  • Exposure to / awareness of Agile methodologies and processes.
  • Experience with managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience working with Globally distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of business processes supporting marketing automation.
  • Gambling industry understanding and interest is desirable but not required.
