The role: Department Head of Regulatory Operations, Operations Risk 

We are looking for a Department Head of Regulatory Operations to join our Operations Risk team in the Isle of Man.

Who are you?

You are a Regulatory Operations professional with experience in establishing internal Regulatory Ops teams that support customer facing operational units. You are an expert who can review varied international online gambling regulations pertaining to Fraud, AML, Responsible Gaming, Affordability, and Customer Due Diligence, and ensure day-to-day Risk Operations units are functioning within guidelines and legal requirements.

You have experience implementing strategy and aligning to strategic policy from internal partners. You are comfortable being the focal point for due diligence. You are happy to oversee third party relationships concerning customer screening, processes creation and protocol adherence, and providing recommendations to the business based on same. Furthermore, you can ensure AML risk assessments are carried out across the player base in a timely manner and in accordance with internal policies and procedures. You are adept at understanding the relationship between CDD, EDD, AML, Affordability, and Customer Verification, and you have experience with structuring teams to complete tasks associated and across each area.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with Financial Crime team, Compliance, Legal and Business Development teams to understand upcoming regulation and changes to current regulation.
  • Stay abreast of new guidance released by regulatory bodies and coach team members on interpretation as needed.
  • Leverage data analytic techniques to segment Business verticals and understand impacts of regulatory changes.
  • Be the senior responsible owner for internal and external audit preparation from an Ops Risk perspective.
  • Report on, and be responsible for, Regulator Complaints and Escalated Player Complaints via a formulised process.
  • Create a small team of Data Protection Specialists, to handle Data Subject Access Requests
  • Oversee management of internal projects across all Ops Risk verticals, as they affect Operations Risk; CDD, Fraud Management, Responsible Gaming, Daily Ops and Risk insights.
  • Perform regulatory intelligence utilising internal Ops Risk team, for information pertinent to Regulatory Operations and provide preliminary assessments of impact of new or modified regulations and guidance.
  • Produce Business plans, Policies and procedures and manage stakeholder relationships;

What You’ll Need

  • Direct experience with implementation and maintenance of regulatory information management systems
  • Must be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience in development and maintenance of processes, templates, standards, and guide sheets.
  • Subject matter expertise for all regulatory-driven, Ops Risk items pertinent to online gambling.
  • Experienced people manager with over 5+ years of team management
  • Regulatory submission experience with demonstrated ability to prepare complex filings in accordance with departmental procedures independently.
  • Strong customer service mentality with first-rate attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with exec accountability and being the point of contact for senior internal stakeholders. Namely Financial Crime, Compliance, Legal, and Central Projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to work well and build relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders and characters.
  • Agility and Proactivity, including an ability to anticipate risks or issues to program or business and take the necessary steps to mitigate or address.
  • High level of skills in MS Software Suites. Particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent presentation / training skills and experience of presenting at high levels.

  • Detailed knowledge of or experience with online gaming (sports / casino or poker)
  • International gambling regulation exposure and experience
  • Experience of dealing with stakeholders in a national / global setting
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Self-motivated, ability to manage self and others’ tasks to meet the required deadlines.
