We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our busy and dynamic team based in our Richmond Hill, Toronto service office.

Why we need you: –

As DevOps Engineer, you will work as part of the team that manages and delivers Software Development projects and helps to ensure availability of key DevOps services used by the Software Development teams and Business units as well as critical QA/UAT and Production environments.
Software Development and IT Operations teams will be assisting you with deploy and operation of our systems. You will help automate and streamline our operations and processes. You’ll support building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve issues in our Dev, QA/UAT and Production environments for a wide range of projects. You’ll be responsible to maintain, deploy, upgrade and configure both customer facing & internal systems and services.

Who are we looking for: –

As a DevOps Engineer you have extensive working experience in an IT infrastructure role liaising with Development, Operations and Systems Teams.

You were involved in planning deployments and improvements to Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and you know your way around Jenkins Libraries, Groovy and Shell scripting.

You are comfortable working with VMware virtualized environments.

You know very well Windows and Linux build tools for C/C++ applications.

You have experience with Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket (& Git). You have experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Groovy, Python as well as a strong background in Linux (Redhat/CentOS) and Windows (incl. Server version).

We try to follow the best methodologies and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service but you’ll be able to suggest any improvements. Our environment is Agile so it’ll be good if you have worked in such teams.

You are a self-starter with the ability to make progress with minimal supervision. On this position you’ll have to show your good diplomacy skills and the ability to liaise with technical and business teams. You are able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. As a team we are results oriented and rely on good communication to achieve success.

As the ideal candidate, you will have: –

You have experience or exposure to the following technologies:

Must have:

  • Sc. in Computer Science or similar
  • 3 years+ experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Jenkins structure, pipelines, libraries and Groovy.
  • Full proficiency with Linux command line environment including shell scripting (Bash), Perl and remote server administration via Ssh
  • Proficiency in Windows build tools (Visual Studio) and Linux (gcc, g++, ldd, make)
  • Good knowledge of Build tools (Apache Ant, Npm, Yarn, Apache Maven)
  • Good knowledge of Atlassian Bitbucket / Git
  • Very good understanding of networking in general
  • Experience with Web servers: Apache, Nginx and IIS
  • Technical expertise in Linux (Redhat / CentOS) and Windows incl. Server version
  • Expertise in Configuration and Deployment Automation using SaltStack (preferred) or Ansible

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Windows build tools (IncrediBuild)
  • Competent in AWS Cloud services (VPC, AMI, Route 53, etc..)
  • Experience with Messaging middleware: RabbitMQ and Kafka
  • Experience with NoSQL and Caching: MongoDB and Redis
  • Experience with Zabbix and TICK stack
  • Experience with Terraform would be a big plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Competent in VMware vSphere
  • Knowledge of TICK stack, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Experience with ELK stack
  • Knowledge of Harbor
  • Knowledge of Katello/Foreman
  • Knowledge of Redhat 8 / CentOS 8
  • Knowledge of Windows Server W2K16+
  • Knowledge of Java, Node.js, Python
  • Knowledge of Build tools (Gradle, Bazel)
  • Knowledge of Packer, Vagrant, Virtual Box
  • System Administrator and/or Software Development background a plus
  • Certifications in Linux, VMware, AWS, K8s a plus.
