Senior Manager Risk and Compliance

10771 United Kingdom, Leeds Business Support Permanent

The role: We are looking for a Senior Manager Risk and Compliance to join our Risk and Compliance team in Leeds.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination, development and embedding of the Group’s risk management and compliance framework for several licenced countries across both the PokerStars and Betfair brands.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home 2 days with working in our modern offices for 3 days per week. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both! We will kit you out to work from home but know that working as a team is what makes us great and spending quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

Are you our next star player?

You may be looking to progress within the industry having already developed a deep understanding of online gaming practices and processes in an operational role or be an experienced compliance professional within another sector.  Either way if you’re looking for your next challenge you’ve found it! You’ll have a wide remit of responsibility, but you can expect to have one or more Compliance Officers as part of your team. We’ll be looking for you to provide leadership and expertise in the management of risk and compliance matters in several jurisdictions including:

  • Submission of license application/renewal. The industry landscape is developing rapidly, and we expect to see more jurisdictions open regulated online gaming markets.  As a Senior Manager, you will be at the heart of this coordinating the application/renewal process itself and ensuring readiness to operate compliantly in these markets.
  • Identification, recording, and maintenance of a comprehensive assessment of applicable gaming laws and regulations to provide advice and challenge to the business on compliance matters and the execution of independent monitoring to confirm compliance with regulator expectations and applicable internal policy.
  • Maintenance of a comprehensive and current view on all legal and regulatory requirements through frequent review of sources including, but not limited to, regulator and industry body websites, communications, and publications (to include consultations, guidance, and notifications of censure) and industry media commentary.
  • Ensuring that developments in the regulatory environment are understood and communicated to business stakeholders and reflected in monitoring activities.
  • Reporting on significant risk management exposures and compliance breaches, including those arising from monitoring, as required by internal governance and regulator reporting obligations.
  • Development and promotion of positive, proactive, and transparent engagement with regulators, making data and documents available as required.
  • Provide independent advice and challenge to stakeholders in relation to strategic and product developments, and the development of operational processes and procedures.
  • Leadership and development of Compliance Officers in relation to the above as they support you on assigned licences.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and duties as determined by Senior Management.

  • Well organised, able to plan and prioritise work schedules and individual tasks
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Prepared to undertake international travel on an ad hoc basis

Prior experience in all areas is not required but a strong desire and ability to learn is crucial.  Experience of working within, or in close proximity to, a legal / compliance / regulatory / auditing / accounting function is beneficial.
